How to level front yard to driveway?

So I know really know nothing about gardening, or lawn or landscaping…
so bare with me and try and explain to me in a “dummy” way. LOL
Our townhome front yard (very small) has sunken on the right side where it meets the driveway.
So the lawn on that side sits about a good inch to an inch and a half lower than the driveway (not very safe, I’ve almost twisted my ankles getting out of the car and mis-stepped)
How can I bring the lawn back up to the same height as the drive way? Also, what is the best way to add large stepping stones next to the drive way as a decorative look (and to widen the drive way a little so that I am not stepping out into the grass/mud everytime)

You both said to add sand and not dirt, why is that?

You can put sand where your lawn has subsided. While you are doing that, add the decorative rocks. Put the rocks down, then add the sand until the area is level.
If you can’t eyeball ‘level’, use a string level.
The grass will come up from under the added sand as long as it is under 2″ depth.
remove the sod along the driveway and add sand and stepping stones so that they are level with drive…
Place your stepping stones in first then fill around with top soil, you can buy top soil at your garden center fill in all your low area with this soil, rake out level
